The Texas Tribune has announced that Dr. Ann Barnes, president and CEO of Episcopal Health Foundation, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Texas Tribune Festival. Barnes will join a panel to discuss the critical intersection of racism and health.
The panel will be part of a live taping of the KFF Health News “What the Health?” podcast hosted by chief Washington correspondent Julie Rovner.
Barnes, known for her extensive work in addressing health disparities and advocating for health equity, will bring her expertise to the conversation, offering insights into how systemic racism and other non-medical factors affect health outcomes in communities across Texas.
Rovner will moderate the conversation between Barnes, Texas State Representative Toni Rose, and KFF Health News’ Cara Anthony and Sabriya Rice.
The Texas Tribune Festival, a premier gathering for policymakers, thought leaders, and advocates, will be held September 5-7 in Downtown Austin. The festival provides a platform for discussing pressing issues including health, education, the economy, Texas and national politics, criminal justice, the border, the 2024 elections, and more.
