Criminal (in)Justice and Mental Health
Date: Thursday, May 20, 2021
Time: 6:30PM – 8:00PM CST
The EHF Learning Network is a next step for Episcopal congregations looking for imaginative ways to connect, deepen strategies for promoting mental health and well-being, and gain experience using virtual meeting platforms to invite meaningful conversation.
These 90-minute sessions are aimed at exploring how we can create connection and promote the mental health and well-being of people in our communities and congregations.
The sessions have two primary goals:
1) Increase participants’ mental-health related knowledge, particularly through the lens of mental health as a social justice issue
2) Build connections across congregations in Texas with similar interests in promoting congregational and community well-being.
This second Learning Network session, “Criminal (in)Justice,” will:
– Increase understanding of the nature and impact of incarceration;
– Clarify the intersection of mental health and justice involvement; and
– Identify intervention points along the continuum of justice involvement, including where congregations may have an opportunity to make a difference.
