EHF announces one-time changes to grantmaking in 2024

With EHF's announcement of a new Strategic Framework, the foundation will spend time in 2024 developing specific strategies and tactics that will guide our grantmaking and other programming and research objectives for the following five years.

After eight years of successes and lessons learned, Episcopal Health Foundation (EHF) is framing the future and entering a new strategic season. We have adopted a new Strategic Framework for 2024-2030 that affirms our commitment to improving health, not just healthcare, leverages our existing work, and forges new directions and priorities to impact community health.

In 2024, EHF will spend time developing specific strategies and tactics that will guide our grantmaking and other programming and research objectives for the following five years. We are excited about the evolution of our vision and mission, and we know that moving it from concept to practice will take time and effort to achieve the level of impact our communities deserve.

We also know that we have grant partners who are strongly aligned with our vision of promoting health equity and community health and who are committed to continuing this work as EHF builds upon our new strategic framework.

EXISTING GRANTEES
Sustaining the work of our grantees is critically important to EHF, therefore, we have made some important one-time changes to our grantmaking for 2024.

  • Eligible grantees will receive continuation of funding for their existing grant(s) that will bridge them to the period until new strategies and tactics for funding are developed under the new framework. If you are a current EHF grantee and eligible for continued funding in 2024, your Program Officer will reach out to you to discuss specific details and answer any questions you may have.
  • For eligible grantees, there will be two grant cycles in 2024. A simplified grant application has been developed for this purpose and will be sent in advance of the application due date, which is based upon the Goal Area for which the grant was previously funded:
    • Grantees funded under Goal 1 of EHF’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan will receive funding in 2024 that bridges them through May 2025.
      • Applications will be due January 26, 2024.
      • Payout will occur June 1, 2024.
    • Grantees funded under Goals 2 and 3 of EHF’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan will receive funding in 2024 that bridges them through September.
      • Applications will be due April 10, 2024.
      • Payout will occur October 1, 2024.

POTENTIAL NEW GRANTEE
S
Any new grants to be funded in 2024 will be by invitation only. There will not be an open grant application process. However, upon reading the new Strategic Framework, should a grantee have ideas about aligning their future work to the Framework, they are encouraged to speak with their Program Officer.

We anticipate releasing our 2025 Grant Guidance in the Fall of 2024. This document will reference the new strategic plan and include details about funding priorities, grant cycles, and the application process.

The year ahead is a vital time as we devote the focus needed to operationalize EHF’s new framework.  Your voice is important to us, so expect to hear from EHF in the coming year as to how you can be involved to help shape our learning and inform our practice. We welcome any thoughts you may have; please feel free to share them with your Program Officer.
