EHF Mental Health Learning Network Series | August 2023

In 2023, the Congregational Engagement Team will offer a virtual Mental Health Learning Network Series to support congregations as they promote mental health in their communities. The Learning Network is the next step for Episcopal congregations looking for imaginative ways to connect, deepen strategies for promoting mental health and well-being, and gain experience using virtual meeting platforms to invite meaningful conversation.

The sessions will have two primary goals:
1) Increasing participants’ knowledge related to mental health and well-being, particularly through the lens of social justice; and

2) Building connections across congregations in Texas with similar interests in promoting congregational and community well-being.

Session 3 | August 29, 2023

In August and September, the Mental Health Learning Network will host a special two-part series that guides participants through a community mental health resource mapping process. In the first session, on August 29th, we’ll identify what exists in many communities and hear from at least one congregation that has done deep listening work about mental health within their community. Between the sessions, participants will be encouraged to continue mapping resources in their own communities and perhaps identify possible persons or organizations to contact. In the second session, on September 19th, participants will be invited to bring their work into the conversation, engage in sensemaking together, and consider next steps. While people are encouraged to attend both sessions, we anticipate some people will attend just one and have designed the series with this in mind.
